EAST JAVA, INDONESIA (September 3, 2024) Boatswain’s Mate 2nd Class Leshawn Bowen from Jacksonville, FL, assigned to the deck department of the amphibious transport dock ship USS Green Bay (LPD 20) signals to lower a Rigid Hull Inflatable Boat from the boat valley to the surface of the ocean during Super Garuda Shield. These operations were conducted to transport personnel to and from the Indonesian ship KRI FKO-368. Super Garuda Shield is an annual exercise that has significantly grown in scope and size since 2009. Super Garuda Shield 2024 is the third consecutive time this exercise has grown into a combined and joint event, focused on commitment to partnership and a free and open Indo-Pacific.
