U.S. Navy Aviation Boatswain Mate Handler 3rd Class Jacob Bauer, with the amphibious transport dock ship USS Green Bay (LPD 20), prepares to receive an Indonesia National Armed Forces AS565 Panther helicopter, during a cross-deck exercise in the Java Sea, Sept. 4, 2024. The exercise showed the capabilities of multilateral communication and cooperation, enhancing interoperability between U.S., Singaporean and Indonesian fighting forces. Super Garuda Shield is an annual exercise that has significantly grown in scope and size since 2009. Super Garuda Shield 2024 is the third consecutive time this exercise has grown into a combined and joint event, focused on commitment to partnership and a Free and Open Indo-Pacific.
