U.S. Marines load a M224 60mm mortar system during a mortar range at the Central Training Area on Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan, Sep. 5, 2024. Mortar teams provide organic indirect fire capabilities to infantry battalions to support combined-arms operations at the tactical level.
