    Chief Hospital Corpsman Colin Armstrong of Forward Deployable Preventive Medicine Unit (FDPMU) West attached to Navy Environmental Preventive Medicine Unit Five, conducts chemical analysis at the Naval Expeditionary Medical Training Institute, Camp Pendleton, CA. The FDPMU safeguards deployed service members' health, focusing on medical readiness and Force Health Protection. FDPMUs undergo nine-to-12-month training and an Operational Readiness Evaluation (ORE) before certification by Commander, Naval Medical Forces Atlantic. Once certified, they are always prepared for immediate action, with two teams on the watch at all times. They conduct chemical analysis during deployments to identify hazards and protect personnel.
