A U.S. Marine Corps F/A-18C assigned to Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 112 (VMFA-112), 4th Marine Aircraft Wing, closes its canopy before the pilot conducts preflight checks during Exercise UNITAS LXV in Santiago, Chile, Sept. 8, 2024. VMFA-112 conducted offensive counter air and defensive counter air missions in support of the combined fleet during UNITAS LXV. UNITAS, which is Latin for “unity,” was conceived in 1959 and has taken place annually since first conducted in 1960.
