    9th Mission Support Command

In August 2024, the 1984th U.S. Army Hospital Pacific conducted a two-week Global Healthcare Engagement mission in the Solomon Islands, focusing on the provinces of Honiara, Munda, Gizmo, and Auki. A key highlight was the introduction of a new ultrasound machine in Munda, where Lt. Col. Richard Teames played a pivotal role in its setup and training local healthcare professionals. The ultrasound proved crucial in diagnosing and treating critical cases, including a premature infant and a diabetic patient requiring nerve blocks. The mission underscored the significant impact of advanced medical equipment and the importance of training in improving healthcare outcomes in underserved regions.
