    31st Marine Expeditionary Unit       

    U.S. Marine Corps Maj. Brandon Hardin, an intelligence planner, right, and GySgt. James A. Anderson III, an Intelligence Specialist, both with the command element, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, man the rails during a scheduled port call to Busan, South Korea, during exercise Ssang Yong 24, Sept. 5, 2024. Exercise SY24 strengthens the Republic of Korea-U.S. Alliance through bilateral, joint training, contributing toward combined amphibious capability in defense of the Korean Peninsula. The 31st MEU is operating aboard ships of the USS America Amphibious Ready Group in the 7th Fleet area of operations, the U.S. Navy’s largest forward-deployed numbered fleet, and routinely interacts and operates with allies and partners in preserving a free and open Indo-Pacific region.
