Tye Luck, a combat engineer with the Nevada Army National Guard’s 609th Engineer Company, uses a grappling hook to test for hazards before a combined element of U.S. and French Soldiers practice breaching an obstacle during Exercise Cartwheel 2024 in Fiji’s Nausori Highlands Sept. 12. The Nevada Guard members took the lead in rappel and squad live fire portions of the exercise, which is designed to enhance expeditionary partner force readiness and increase capabilities to respond to crises and contingencies throughout the Indo-Pacific.
