Sgt. Stephen Rhodes was presented with the Coast Guard Silver Lifesaving Medal Tuesday, Sept. 17, in New Orleans, in recognition of his heroic actions on May 7, 2022 when he saved the lives of nine people after their vessel capsized in rough water near Grand Isle, Louisiana. The Silver Lifesaving Medal is awarded by the Commandant of the Coast Guard to any person who rescues, or endeavors to rescue, any other person from drowning, shipwreck or other peril of water.
