U.S. Army soldiers with 4th Battalion, 133rd Field Artillery Regiment, Texas Army National Guard, supporting 1st Cavalry Division, fire a rocket during a Table XII live fire exercise near Tapa, Estonia, Sept. 19, 2024. This rocket would use GPS guidance to travel within 3 meters or 9 feet of the target. HIMARS can fire both Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System (GMLRS) rockets and Army Tactical Missile System (ATACMS) missiles, giving it flexibility to hit targets at varying distances. Conducting exercises like these is essential to ensure HIMARS crewmembers are skilled and proficient in their mission-essential tasks. The 1st Cavalry Division’s mission in Europe is to engage in multinational training and exercises across the continent, working alongside NATO allies and regional security partners to provide combat-credible forces to V Corps, America’s forward-deployed corps in Europe.
