Kennedy (CVN 79) with the Legion of Merit award during the ship’s change of command ceremony aboard the ship. During the ceremony, Capt. Colin Day was relieved by Capt. Doug Langenberg as commanding officer. John F. Kennedy is the second Ford-class aircraft carrier and is under construction at HII’s Newport News Shipbuilding (NNS) division in Newport News, Virginia.
