Cmdr. Brian Harrington departs the Ticonderoga-class guided missile cruiser USS Leyte Gulf (CG 55) decommissioning ceremony Sept. 20, 2024 at Naval Station Norfolk. USS Leyte Gulf, named after the historic World War II battle, was commissioned on Sept. 26, 1987 in Port Everglades, Fl. and served in the U.S. Navy for almost 37 years before decommissioning.
