U.S. Navy hospital corpsman 2nd Class Albay Valdes, back, with the amphibious transport dock ship USS Green Bay (LPD 20), treats a simulated casualty during a mass casualty exercise, in the Philippine Sea, Sept. 19, 2024. The exercise tested the responsiveness, coordination and ability to rescue and treat numerous casualties at once while enhancing medical readiness for medical personnel. The 31st MEU is operating aboard ships of USS America Expeditionary Strike Group in the 7th fleet area of operations to enhance interoperability with allies and partners and serve as a ready response force to defend peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
