Smoke surrounds three Marines following the launch of a a FIM-92 Stinger missile during the 2nd Low Altitude Air Defense Battalion’s team and section leader’s course Feb. 8. The Stinger Missile is designed to defend outposts or airfields from enemy aircraft and can engage targets within an altitude of 10,000 feet and can cover a distance of eight kilometers.
