SILVER SPRING, Md. (Sept. 26, 2024) Hospital Corpsman 2nd Class Alejandra Ramírez Alarcón interviews Capt. Guillermo Pimentel about growing up in Puerto Rico and what being Hispanic means to him and the Navy, during a Hispanic Heritage Month celebration at Naval Medical Research Command (NMRC). NMRC’s celebration included a Hispanic food potluck, music, piñatas, and a Q&A session with Pimentel. Commands across the Navy recognize Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15-October 15. This year's theme is "Pioneers of Change: Shaping the Future Together." NMRC is engaged in a broad spectrum of medical research, from basic science in the laboratory, to field studies in austere and remote areas of the world to investigations in operational environments. In support of the Navy, Marine Corps and joint U.S. warfighters, researchers study infectious diseases, biological warfare detection and defense, combat casualty care, environmental health concerns, aerospace and undersea medicine, medical modeling, simulation, operational mission support, epidemiology and behavioral sciences (U.S. Navy photo by Michael Wilson/Released)
