Steven Thomas, Commodore of Commander, Helicopter Sea Combat Wing Atlantic, reads his remarks at the establishment ceremony of Station Search and Rescue Key West October 1, 2024 at Naval Air Station Key West’s Boca Chica Field. While its primary mission to support tactical fixed-wing flight operations based out of NAS Key West and its surrounding ranges remains the same, the command now falls under Helicopter Sea Combat Wing Atlantic. NAS Key West is the state-of-the-art facility for combat fighter aircraft of all military services, provides world-class pierside support to U.S. and foreign naval vessels, and is the premier training center for surface and subsurface military operations.
