Charlie Bowers, an eighteen-year-old senior from Bluffton High School, Bluffton, S.C., stands on the Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort flightline during a tour of the Air Station, Feb. 15. Bowers who suffers from Stargardt's disease, a macular degeneration that causes vision loss to the point of blindness, wanted to experience military aviation before the disease worsens his vision.
