U.S. and Chilean Marines work in a combined targeting cell during Exercise UNITAS LXV at Fuerte Aguayo, Chile, Sep. 9, 2024. U.S. and Chilean Marines implemented a targeting web that linked sensing assets such as the AN/TPS-80 Ground/Air Task Oriented Radar (G/ATOR) with fires assets such as F/A-18C jets to provide sea control options to Multinational Force UNITAS. UNITAS, taking place in Chile this year, is the world’s longest-running annual multinational maritime exercise that focuses on enhancing interoperability among multiple nations and joint forces during littoral and amphibious operations in order to build on existing regional partnerships and create new enduring relationships that promote peace, stability, and prosperity in the U.S. Southern Command’s area of responsibility.
