A United States Flag, draped across a residence’s bushes in Evans, Georgia is captured by Master Sgt. Caila Arahood, 165th Airlift Wing public affairs superintendent, while out on a road clearing mission in a residential area Sept. 30, 2024. This area had dozens of trees down and the Georgia National Guard was able to clear an entry and exit to the neighborhood. Nearly 1,600 Georgia National Guardsmen are actively responding across Southern Georgia in the wake of Hurricane Helene. Our teams are clearing downed trees from primary and secondary roads, while assisting FEMA and Georgia Emergency Management at point-of-distribution centers to ensure critical supplies reach affected communities.
