Today, Liaison Monitoring Team soldiers assigned to Regional Command East of the #NATO-led #KFOR mission supported “World Clean-up Day” in Pristina. World Clean-up Day is a global initiative aimed at cleaning the environment and raising awareness about the importance of proper waste management. The activity involved five main areas of Prishtinë/Priština seriously affected by dirt, garbage and abandonment. The Liaison Monitoring Team supported the event by providing equipment and cleaning tools, as well as by helping with running the activity and distributing meals.
These activities help to promote lasting security for all local communities and to consolidate regional stability.
KFOR continues to implement its mandate - based on UN Security Council Resolution 1244 of 1999 - to contribute to a safe and secure environment for all people and communities living in Kosovo and freedom of movement, at all times and impartially. KFOR is the third security responder, after the Kosovo Police and the EU Rule of Law (EULEX) mission, respectively, with whom we work in close coordination.
