    U.S. Army soldiers assigned to the Douglasville-based 848th Engineer Company (SAPPER), 878th Engineer Battalion, 648th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade, Georgia National Guard, prepare to clear debris and downed trees in the Pendleton King neighborhood of Augusta, Georgia, Oct. 4, 2024. Over 1,800 Georgia National Guardsmen have been actively responding across Southern Georgia after Hurricane Helene swept through the state Sept. 26, 2024. Our teams are clearing downed trees from primary and secondary roads, while assisting FEMA and Georgia Emergency Management at point-of-distribution centers to ensure critical supplies reach affected communities.
