U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Christopher Hope, a squad leader with the Hershel "Woody" Williams (HWW) Marine Detachment, presents a plaque to the Compagnie Fusilier de Marin Commando (COFUMACO) instructors during a Riverine and Jungle Warfare Course in Toubacouta, Senegal, Sept. 26, 2024. The Marine Corps and Senegalese COFUMACO have had a nearly two-decade relationship focused on enhancing warfighting capabilities to improve maritime security and stability in the region. The HWW Marine Detachment, while under the command and control of Task Force 61/2, is conducting operations in U.S. Marine Forces Africa area of operations to support partner nations.
