Commander, Naval Information Forces (NAVIFOR) Vice Adm. Mike Vernazza spoke at the NAVIFOR ceremonial Navy birthday cake-cutting ceremony on Oct. 10. The cutting of the cake by the oldest and youngest command members is a tradition that symbolizes the passing of knowledge from the previous generation of Sailors to the next. NAVIFOR celebrated the Navy's 249th birthday and commemorated this year's theme of "Warfighting Strength and Readiness” which highlights the Navy’s focus that everything we do and have done is through a warfighting lens, to deliver decisive combat power.
