    USS Germantown returns to San Diego

    SAN DIEGO (Oct. 10, 2024) - Vice Adm. Brendan McLane, commander, Naval Surface Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet, welcomes the Whidbey Island-class amphibious dock landing ship USS Germantown (LSD 42) back to Naval Base San Diego Oct. 10. Germantown, assigned to U.S. 3rd Fleet, returned to homeport after participating in UNITAS LXV (65) and SOLIDAREX 2024. UNITAS is the longest-running multinational maritime exercise in the world, focused on enhanced interoperability in maritime and amphibious operations in order to build on existing regional partnerships and to create new relationships that will promote peace, stability, and prosperity. SOLIDAREX is a multinational maritime exercise focused on the required interoperability to rapidly execute large scale humanitarian aid and disaster response in northwest South America.
