241022-N-MT837-1072 Naval Medical Center Portsmouth (NMCP) hosts a Navy birthday celebration with flags representing each of the states and birthday messages from leadership shortly after holding Colors at historic Bldg. 1’s flagpole, Oct. 11. Hospital Corpsman First Class Petty Officer D’Morris Taylor rang eight bells signaling the end of the watch. Following brief historical comments, one additional bell was rung symbolizing the start of the new Navy year, and attending chief petty officers sang the fight and march song of the Navy, “Anchors Aweigh.”
