U.S. Air Force Maj. Nathan Fritts, 59th Medical Wing Emergency Services flight commander, outlines the critical role the 59th MDW plays in serving the Department of Defense beneficiary community in and around Joint Base San Antonio, Oct. 4, 2024 during a ceremony at Wilford Hall Ambulatory Surgical Center. "With a high-volume of patients seeking emergency care, this recognition highlights the essential contributions (we) make in meeting the lifesaving medical needs of our service members, their families, and all DoD beneficiaries," said Fritts. As of Aug. 1, the Wilford Hall Emergency Center can accept DoD beneficiaries transported by civilian ambulances from off-base locations. (U.S. Air Force photo by Tech. Sgt. Tory Patterson)
