WASHINGTON NAVY YARD (10 October, 2024) - Strategic Systems Programs (SSP) Assistant Counsel James Gulliksen addresses his SSP colleagues during a ceremony recognizing him for earning the Department of the Navy Office of the General Counsel Junior Attorney Achievement Award. The award recognizes an attorney who has begun working in the practice of law within the past five years and who has performed above and beyond expectations, showing an outstanding ability to effectively digest and disseminate information. Gulliksen, who specializes in nonproliferation and international law, has played a crucial role in SSP’s relationship with international partners and has proven invaluable in supporting the Polaris Sales Agreement and Mutual Defense Agreement with the United Kingdom. SSP is the Navy command that provides cradle-to-grave lifecycle support for the sea-based leg of the nation's nuclear triad. This includes training, systems, equipment, facilities and personnel responsible for ensuring the safety, security, and effectiveness of the nation's Submarine Launched Ballistic Missile (SLBM) Trident II (D5LE) Strategic Weapon System.
