An instructor with the Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Wildland Firefighter Academies, teaches Washington National Guard service members to use tools to make a fireline as part of a wildlife firefighter certification training in Ahtanum State Forest, Wash., Oct. 20, 2024. Fire lines are used during wildfires to contain and prevent fire from spreading. The partnership of the DNR and the Washington National Guard provides opportunities for added support and readiness in the events of wildfire emergencies. (U.S. Army National Guard photo by Spc.
