New York Army National Guard Brig. Gen. Isabel Rivera Smith accepts the guidon of the 53rd Troop Command from Maj. Gen. Raymond Shields, the adjutant general of New York, during a change of command ceremony on Camp Smith Training Site, Cortlandt Manor, New York, Oct. 19, 2024. Smith, who also serves as director of joint staff, assumed the command from Maj. Gen. Jack A. James who is taking command of the 42nd Infantry Division.
