Sailors aboard Ticonderoga-class cruiser USS Chosin (CG 65) use the Transferrable Reload At-sea Method, or TRAM (gray machine at left), to grasp a missile canister (white, center) over the ship's forward MK 41 Vertical Launching System (VLS) during the first at-sea demonstration of TRAM off the coast of San Diego on Oct. 9. The canister traveled across cables from Military Sealift Command’s Lewis and Clark-class dry cargo and ammunition ship USNS Washington Chambers (T-AKE 11) to USS Chosin, where TRAM tilted it into a vertical position and lowered it into a VLS cell.
