The 201st Multi-functional Training Regiment of the Puerto Rico National Guard held the Change of Command ceremony at Fort Allen, Juana Díaz, Oct. 20, 2024. In the ceremony, the outgoing Commander, Col. José Santiago, thanked the personnel for their commitment and dedication to bringing "la Gran Academia" to the high level it is and welcomed the incoming Commander, Col. Alvin Aponte, wishing him much a lot of success in his new duties. Col. Aponte thanked the opportunity to command the Regiment and to continue working to keep it at its current quality level. The Land Component Commander, Brig. Gen. Carlos Torres Fébus thanked Col. José M. Santiago for his outstanding job as a Commander of the Regiment and thanked Col. Aponte for accepting the challenge of being in front of the MFTR. The Change of Command ceremony is a military tradition that dates back to the 18th Century and the American Revolution. It symbolizes the formal transfer of authority and responsibility from one Commander to another and signifies the continuation of trust and the Soldiers' allegiance to their Unit's Commander.
