Petty Officer 2nd Class Brittney Beasley, a respiratory therapist (RT) at Naval Hospital Jacksonville, conducts a pulmonary function test. Beasley, a native of Fayetteville, North Carolina, also assists in the delivery of newborns and provides care for critical intensive care unit (ICU) patients. She says, “I love the flexibility of working with multiple patients and seeing their progression from start to discharge. I take pride in the healthcare journey.” Beasley adds, “My guiding principle is to stay out of my comfort zone and always push myself to do more.” Respiratory Care Week is Oct. 20-26, shedding light on the work RTs perform with physicians in developing treatment plans, monitoring patients, and educating patients and their families.
