U.S. Marine Corps Lt. Gen. Michael S. Cederholm, commanding general of I Marine Expeditionary Force, presents a letter of commendation to Seaman Recruit Mason Gaines, a construction electrician with Construction Battalion Maintenance Unit 303, Naval Construction Group 1, during an award ceremony at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, California, Oct. 30, 2024. The Sailors were awarded for their accomplishments in leading and training Marines to complete self-help repair projects as part of the Barracks 360 Reset initiative. The initiative aims to improve the living conditions and operational readiness of Marines and Sailors through increased oversight by command teams, a dedicated effort to reduce the maintenance backlog and shared ownership of the barracks with the introduction of the tenants’ Rights and Responsibilities.
