U.S. service members from the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) drape a U.S. flag over a World War II casket during a disinterment ceremony at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Honolulu, Hawaii, Nov. 4, 2024. Eight individuals were disinterred as part of the West Loch Project: an on-going effort by DPAA to disinter, transport, and identify service members who died in the West Loch disaster during World War II. 132 confirmed service members were killed or wounded while loading ammunition and fuel onto ships at the West Loch peninsula of Pearl Harbor. This year marked the 80th anniversary of the disaster. (U.S. Air Force photo by Staff Sgt. Ariel Owings)
