Chaplain Lt. Col. D.J. Brock, Master Sgt. Travis Kennedy, and Sgt. Tyslyn Cephus, all Soldiers of the 593rd Expeditionary Sustainment Command unit ministry team, visited Thompson Elementary School fifth-grade students during recess and helped serve traditional sweet bread during their Dia De Los Muertos Lunch, November 1, 2024, in Tacoma, Washington. The 593d ESC was previously aligned with Thompson Elementary School through the Joint Base Lewis-McChord Community Connector program, which creates opportunities for the Rest Assured team to focus on all aspects of service, on and off the installation. Thompson administrators communicated a need for strong role models at the school, specifically among the older student population. The Rest Assured team's visits to the school aim to create a consistent mentorship presence and make a difference by engaging directly with students on a regular basis.
