U.S. Marine Corps Maj. Gen. James B. Wellons, commanding general of 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, and members of the Linares Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution read the Americans’ Creed during an award ceremony at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, California, Nov. 7, 2024. On behalf of 3rd MAW, Wellons accepted the Distinguished Citizens Award from the Daughters of the American Revolution. As a service organization for women who are directly descended from a patriot of the American Revolutionary War, DAR bestows the award to individuals or groups that have contributed to the defense, security, or freedom of the community, state, or nation.
