U.S. Marines with Combat Logistics Battalion 31, 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, recover a Medium Tactical Vehicle Replacement from the mud during a CLB-31 field exercise at Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan, Nov. 6, 2024. Soft terrain driving with tactical recovery improves driver familiarity, trust, and confidence in equipment and gives wrecker operators the opportunity to exercise skill and judgment in austere environments. The 31st MEU, the Marine Corps’ only continuously forward-deployed MEU, provides a flexible and lethal force ready to perform a wide range of military operations as the premiere crisis response force in the Indo-Pacific region.
