‘A home away from home’ is how Lamar Porter, a former participant of U.S. Army Garrison Rheinland-Pfalz’s Operation Good Cheer initiative and currently serving with the 515th Transportation Company, describes the family that sponsored his Christmas in 2023. Since meeting his host family, Porter has been visiting them every month and participating in various activities together, including attending festivals, dining at restaurants, and sightseeing. This photo was taken on New Year's Eve 2023 and shows (from left) Porter, Tina Schweitzer, Silas Schweitzer, and Alexander Schweitzer celebrating the arrival of 2024. (Courtesy photo of Lamar Porter)
