U.S. Marines bring forward the birthday cake during a cake cutting ceremony on the Nylands Brigade Military Base, Finland, on Nov. 10, 2024. The cake cutting ceremony was held in honor of the 249th Marine Corps birthday to reflect on the traditions, history and legacy of the Marine Corps. U.S. Marines assigned to Marine Rotational Force – Europe are in Finland to participate in exercise Freezing Winds 24, an annual Finnish-led maritime exercise which serves as a venue to increase Finnish Naval readiness and interoperability between NATO partners and allies in and around the Baltic Sea.
