U.S. Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Kaleb Glasgow performs squats during a workout of the day on Camp Schwab, Okinawa, Nov. 8, 2024. This workout was in remembrance of Cpl. Albert P. Gettings who served as a team leader with Fox company, 2nd Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom on Jan. 5, 2006. While conducting counter-sniper operations in Al Fallujah, Iraq, Gettings and his squad came under fire, wounding him and another Marine. Despite his abdominal wound, he stood exposed, returning fire and directing his squad’s movements. Refusing evacuation, he provided cover and maintained control until his squad reached cover and engaged the enemy, collapsing only after they were secure. For his actions, Cpl. Gettings was awarded the Silver Star. Glasgow, a native of North Carolina, is a rifleman with 4th Marine Regiment, 3d Marine Division and is forward deployed in the Indo-Pacific as part of the Unit Deployment Program.
