U.S. Army Air Corps Veteran PVT Daniel “Dan” McAllaster,, 30th Photo Reconnaissance Squadron, WWII Veteran is recognized during the Veterans Day Sunset Ceremony aboard the Battleship Missouri Memorial, Nov.11, 2024 on Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii. After his discharge, he and his squadron received the Presidential Unit Citation with an added Oak Leaf Cluster for exceptional and outstanding service for “the most extensive low altitude photographic assignment ever undertaken over enemy territory. McAllaster also received the Legion of Honor medal from France, an honor only given to those that fought on French soil and had exemplary service. (U.S. Navy photo by Roann Gatdula)
