YORKTOWN, Va. (November 14, 2024) Stephanie Sawyer, Cheatham Annex Activity Manager, provides some updates associated with the installation’s ongoing environmental restoration efforts as part of the Restoration Advisory Board meeting held at the York County Public Library. The Restoration Advisory Board (RAB) is an important part of the community relations program for Cheatham Annex. The RAB consist of community volunteers who meet regularly with Navy and state and federal environmental regulators to discuss the ongoing status of environmental investigations and to participate in the decision-making process for final remedial decisions. Under Mission Cleanup, the community can participate in the RAB to ensure continued protection of public health and restoration of land and water. Mission Cleanup and the RAB rely on ongoing public awareness and engagement in the environmental cleanup process, as public participation is critical to the ability to Clean, Protect, & Restore. RAB meetings are held two times a year and are open to the public. (U.S. Navy Photo by Max Lonzanida/Released).
