BACH’s Nutrition Care Division team prepared a delicious pre-Thanksgiving feast for patients and staff today at Flo’s Cafe, the hospital’s dining facility. And while the elaborate holiday menu, the festive table-cloths and centerpieces, the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) Band’s live performance and the grand holiday ice sculpture certainly highlighted this festive celebration - it was how this feast was served that carried an important message on this special day.

Command team representatives, hospital deputies and commanders from BACH, Soldier Recovery Unit and the Medical Readiness Battalion took today’s opportunity to express their gratitude to the patients and staff they serve.

“This pre-Thanksgiving feast presents a unique opportunity for us, as leaders, to jump behind the food line and serve our community, our people, as a way to say “Thank you!”,” said BACH Deputy Commander for Administration Lt. Col. Wendy Price.

“This is a way to celebrate our people, not only the folks who do all the work to put on this amazing meal, but to also celebrate and give thanks to all the people we support every day - our patients, our families and those who serve. We also do this to build community camaraderie and to celebrate and share our thankfulness because we would not be here if it was not for them,” added Price.

“This is also a chance to break bread with our teammates. It’s a very special opportunity.”

Today’s event was the perfect opportunity for BACH’s leadership to exhibit and bring to life the hospital’s mission support as it actively pursues opportunities to build its community, providing an environment where leaders at every level are empowered to engage partners in improving healthcare through training and fostering meaningful relationships, both internally and externally.
