Lt. Cmdr Kevi Christopher of Fleet Surgical Team Seven performs an out patient surgical procedure on a Marine onboard the forward-deployed amphibious assault ship USS Essex March 10, while at sea The Essex Expeditionary Strike Group is steaming to support a potential humanitarian assistance tasking in the wake of Cyclone Nargis. Essex is the lead ship of the forward-deployed U.S. Expeditionary Strike Group and serves as the flagship for CTF 76, the Navy's only forward-deployed amphibious force commander. Task Force 76 is headquartered at White Beach Naval Facility, Okinawa, Japan, with a detachment in Sasebo Japan.
