The lighting of the Christmas tree is a team building event for raising morale of the troops, who are separated from friends and family for the Holidays. The lighting of the tree is also an opportunity for international relationship building, with multiple nations uniting over a shared Holiday. The 1st Cavalry Division’s mission is to engage in multinational training and exercises across the continent, strengthening interoperability with NATO allies and regional security partners, which provides competent and ready forces to V Corps, America’s forward-deployed corps in Europe.
