U.S. Navy Sailors perform a hip-tow maneuver during joint river operations with the Belizean Defense Force during Southern Partnership Station 2013 in the U.S. 4th Fleet area of responsibility. A hip-tow is when two boats are tied together fore and aft to facilitate the transfer of material or casualties while the boats are still at sea. Southern Partnership Station is an annual deployment that exchanges training and expertise between U.S. military and civilian agencies with their counterparts in Central and South America and the Caribbean.
