Soldiers, airmen and civilian staff at the North Carolina National Guard Joint Force Headquarters enjoyed a black history celebration by the United Service Organizations of North Carolina here, Feb. 27. Eugene Weeks, the mayor pro-tem of Raleigh, acted as host. He introduced motivational speaker retired Army Lt. Col. Terrance A. Garrick and Ashley Mills, Miss North Carolina USA 2013. Mills posed for photos and signed autographs between fits of giggles and many smiles shared with the audience. "It is an honor and privilege to show gratitude to our military," said Mills.
