USS Comstock (LSD 45) makes its way toward Naval Surface Warfare Center, Port Hueneme Division (NSWC PHD) in California on a recent morning. At more than 600 feet long, the Whidbey Island-class dock landing ship can transport more than 400 Marines in addition to its own crew of Sailors, plus 21 mechanized landing craft.
