Museum volunteer Shawn Riedell, depicting a World War I American medic, shows a piece of equipment to visitors. The Illinois State Military Museum in Springfield, which tells the history of the Illinois National Guard, held another successful “Christmas at the Front” event on Dec. 7. The event told the story of what it was like to be deployed during Christmas from the American Revolution to the Vietnam War with the museum’s dedicated volunteers depicting Illinois National Guard Soldiers throughout history.
