U.S. Service members, families and friends gather together at Chapin Christian Community Church during a Wreaths Across America ceremony, Dec. 14, 2024, Chapin, South Carolina. The ceremony is an annual event, held to remember, honor, and teach about the service of veterans who have passed and prisoners of war. U.S. Air Force Brig. Gen. Karl S. Bowers Jr., deputy adjutant general for the South Carolina Air National Guard, spoke about the importance of remembering those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation. During the ceremony, representatives from each branch of service placed wreaths in front of their respective flags. After the ceremony, family members and community members placed wreaths atop service member’s headstones, spoke their names out loud, saluted and thanked them for their service.
